Valediction and Prize Giving Ceremony

In a celebration of achievements and memories, CityKidz Grade 6 and 7 learners gathered for a spectacular Candyland-themed prize-giving ceremony. The event was a colourful and heartfelt send-off for the students, marking the culmination of a year filled with growth, learning and success.

From the moment parents, carers and guests arrived, they were transported into an imaginative world. The hall stairs, adorned with giant lollipops and bright balloons, welcomed everyone to the venue. Inside, the hall was transformed into a life-sized Candyland with the red carpet leading the way to a stage that sparkled with candy-stripes and sparkling sweets.

Teachers embraced the theme, wearing pastel and candy-inspired outfits that added to the vibrant charm of the day. Master of Ceremonies, Mr Mgobhozi, began with a warm welcome and likened the students’ journey at CityKidz to a Candyland adventure, filled with challenges and rewards. The ceremony was interspersed with speeches from the Head Girl and Head Boy, lively poetry performances and a heartwarming choral rendition of a farewell song.

One of the most memorable moments was a video montage compiled by Ms Ndlovu, showcasing highlights from the school year. Set to an uplifting soundtrack, it brought smiles, laughter and a few tears as learners and parents reflected on the journey of the departing Grade 7’s. The Candyland-themed Prize-Giving Ceremony was more than just a celebration; it was a tribute to the learners’ hard work, resilience, and accomplishments. Congratulations to all the prize winners. A highlight was the announcement of Dux Scholar 2024, Tlhalefo Sefotlho for her outstanding academic record and the recipient of the Principal’s Award, Chika Osuagwu. After the final bell rang signalling the official end of school, Grade 6 and 7’s moved to the netball court where the hand-over ceremony occurred, witnessed by parents, guardians and staff who wished the learners good luck for the future as they move on to the next stage of their educational journey. We hope the memories of this sweet and magical day will remain with CityKidz senior learners.

With smiles, laughter and a touch of nostalgia, the senior primary classes left the event inspired to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, carrying with them the sweetness of their time in Candyland.
