Annual Sports Day

Our Annual Sports Day was an absolute blast. We were incredibly blessed to have the perfect weather, perfect spectators, and a perfect venue.

Our SMT (Mrs Cindy Moyo-overall coordinator, Ms Dudu Moyo-coordinator, Mrs Thembi Moyo, Mrs Vorster and Mrs Reynolds) began with planning and preparations at the end of last year. At the beginning of this term leading up to the Annual Sports Day learners were given time to practise, teachers chose teams, war cries were sung with fervour and house coordinators motivated and brought out those hidden talents from our learners.

The emphasis was on sportsmanship and enjoyment. Everyone enjoyed the days cheering on houses and showing off their perfect moves for the novelty races. ( I think parents were also practising on the quiet because they were pretty well-prepared for the fun parent’s races.) All invites and reminders were sent to our parents and friends to join us for the final day at Holy Family College. The turnout was spectacular, as parents came excitedly to watch and film/photograph their children perform with the other children. We started off with the sprints and then all grades presented different novelty races, relay races were thrilling and had spectators cheering with delight. The day ended with parent’s races and the tug-of-war events. (The two teams pitted against each other in a test of strength brought our gales of laughter and mirth from the crowd.) T

he overall winner of the competition on the day was Impala house (Green). There was a healthy competitive spirit among all three houses: Impala, Eland and Roan. We hope to continue inculcating the nature of sportsmanship and foster more healthy programs in the near future. A huge thanks to EVERYONE involved: our teaching staff, maintenance staff, parents, friends, security teams, medical response teams and Lisa’s Shack Snacks. Our Annual Sports Day provided all of us with unforgettable memories this year.
