Konka 2021

You could not contain the excitement of the Grade 7’s a few days before leaving for Konka. In the beginning they were so apprehensive after listening to our President’s family meeting on Sunday night because they thought the trip would be postponed, once again. On Tuesday when they were told “all systems go!” They were briefed about their responsibilities on the trip. The Covid-19 protocols certainly did not dampen their spirits.

Seventy one very excited children arrived at Konka on Wednesday morning. They were immediately given challenging activities which tested their physical abilities and mental aptitude. This proved to be most worthwhile and entertaining. From the  Marble Tube, Spider's Web, Hexa Challenge, Giant Finger , Maize, Balancing Bridge, Magnet, Mind Field to the Acid River Bomb there was never a dull moment.

The groups benefitted during these different team building exercises, rushing down the zipline and solving team puzzles. The highlight was the obstacle course. This was an opportunity to show “True Grit” , determination  and team work. Valuable life skills lessons were learnt, highlighting the potential leaders of our present Gr 7 group.

The social interaction was certainly taken care of as each dorm housed fifteen children in a 40 capacity dorm ensuring Social distance was practiced. Evenings were opportunities to share lively banter and group camaraderie. Konka has it all.  A stunning camp site, fun activities, delicious food, beautiful wild animals, swimming pools and more! The Grade 7’s thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thanks to all the staff accompanying the Grade 7’s. Wonderful memories were made!
