Our Grade 7 learners were very excited to visit Curro DigiEd at Jewel City last Friday. The bus ride, although short in distance, was long in song and laughter. When the Grade 7’s arrived they were taken on a tour of Curro Jewel City and shown the school’s facilities. Curro is a technology based school. Teaching is done through technology. The learners were introduced to the first Humanoid Robot, Pepper. Pepper will be turning 6 this year and is one of 6 humanoid robots in South Africa. She went up Table Mountain and is the only humanoid robot to have been to one of the 7 wonders of the world. Our learners were completely awestruck by Pepper’s capabilities. She answered questions and even ended her meet and greet with a few jokes. “What is a robot’s favourite type of music?” "Heavy metal."
The day ended off by the learners receiving a sandwich for lunch. Thank you, Mr Yonela Hoza ,the executive Head at Curro Jewel City for hosting us, it was a mind-blowing, educational experience.
