Tour to Mitchell House

09 November 2014

We had the most wonderful time at Mitchell House College in Polokwane. This was CityKidz's first visit to another school. We were treated like royalty by Mrs Kathy Proctor and her team - Mr Frederick Romijn, Ms Tiri Takawira, Mrs Gerda Steenkamp, Mrs Elaine Petty, and the Mitchell House kitchen staff . It probably wasn't easy for the host families to make the space for our boys but all the Host families were very gracious in allowing our boys to spend the evening under their care. All the boys appreciated everything their host family did to make them feel welcome. They were entertained, made new friends and had the most marvellous time. The hostel accommodation was first class and the girls loved the experience. Mr Cook arranged a trip to the movies for the girls. The children played soccer, netball and chess matches. Our girls performed cultural dances and many of the tour children participated in the Spelling Bee. We would like to congratulate Mitchell House for winning all the matches. Our teams need more exposure and this is the first step in the right direction. Positive experiences such as this trip aim at being enjoyable, vigorous and purposeful. They will also help to provide our children with a lifelong interest in physical activities and team work. The time spent at Mitchell House was the highlight of our school year. On behalf of CityKidz I wish to say thank you to the Principal Mr Andrew Cook for his kind and gracious hospitality.
