measurement

Children learn from an early age how to measure and estimate.  Being able to estimate is a valuable mathematical skill.  Our Grade 3 C class put their estimation skills to the test when we estimated distances during our math’s lesson.  After estimating we used our meter sticks to determine how close our estimations were. We learned how to measure and which measuring units are best to use for different situations.

“Adults often think of measurement in terms of formulas, rulers, and graduated cylinders. But young children encounter measurement in many contexts every day as they explore and try to make sense of their world.”
