The excitement amongst the Grade 6 learners on Tuesday 15 October was infectious. They lined up with their “floaties” and bags at the buses, ready for the long-awaited outing to Edufarm.
The bus journey was uneventful and long, but at last the destination came into view. The learners piled out and were guided into the hall where they were divided into teams by the facilitators at the camp for the leadership program activities. The obstacle course proved to be very popular as well as challenging. Learners were rated according to their collaborative efforts and willingness to help each other.
The learners were instructed to build a tent as part of the program. Great fun was had during the “Wacky Water Games” as most people got soaked from head to toe during this activity! Learners enjoyed the delicious lunch and a chance to relax and discuss their activities with each other. The swimming break was most welcome as the temperature had climbed and the cool water looked very inviting. The learners who did not swim thoroughly enjoyed playing on the “Slippy Slide.” At the end of the day Team 6, earned the most marks and each member was awarded a medal.
They were very proud of themselves, having put in a tremendous effort! The tired learners were eager to return home and share their experiences with their families. Another successful CityKidz adventure!
