Grade R children are known as the GummiBears

The formative years before primary school are vital for the establishment of a healthy, well-rounded lifestyle that sets you onto the path of growth and development as you progress towards adulthood. It is important to set a solid foundation during this time to encourage life-long learning.

Playing is a natural part of the behaviour of children and it is through play in which they learn. Play therapy at school allows children to express their feelings and experiences in a creative and informal way. The experience of creating gives learner's a feeling of satisfaction and enhances their feelings of self-worth. Creative learner's are better at solving problems and are more flexible in finding original solutions. They are also more likely to be able to think for themselves, make decisions and display independence.

In Grade R, I encourage the development of creativity through art, music, drama, movement, story telling, problem-solving activities, games and discussions. I communicate with my learner's and allow them to freely explore concepts taught.

The more fun learning is, the more motivated My Gummy Bears are to learn!
