Today’s Slumber Party has been the day our children have been waiting for since the beginning of the year! The children and staff were given the opportunity to wear their snazzy, snuggly jammies. Each grade had a fun-time-slot to groove to DJ Unity Mauzah. It was the perfect wintery day to get cosied up in warm attire and dance off the cold.
Have you ever wondered where that juice box, chewed up straw or sweet wrapper go? Most Grade 3s figured that was the easiest question to answer. In the bin, in the bin! They shouted with excitement. Then what? the teachers enquired further.
We had an exciting week at CityKidz with the announcement of our Grade 7 monitors, prefects, deputy, and head prefects.
A fun-filled day to the zoo was planned for our Grade 2's. This tied in perfectly with our animal theme which we are beginning to explore in class.
On Tuesday the 26th of April, our Grade 3s had a trip to the Lion and Safari Park.
Finally, Friday 22 April which the Grade 1 learners had been patiently waiting for had arrived. The little excitedly boarded the bus. The bus left school at 8am promptly on Friday, many could not contain their excitement as it was their first time on a bus with all their friends.
Go Ape South Africa is an aerial forest park (AFP) built to be enjoyed by all ages. This park contains courses made of platforms constructed at various levels in the trees. The platforms are connected by different types of bridges (that represent obstacles), participants using safety equipment "fly "from platform to platform. Go Ape South Africa was enjoyed by our Grade 4's.
My Family is a very important topic in Life Skills for the Grade 1s. Parents and family form a child's first relationship, they are every child's first teacher and act as role models on how to behave at home and school.
A camp like Konka takes classroom learning and puts it in the context of the ‘real world’. The ‘hands-on’ approach makes children feel good about themselves and enables them to celebrate their own success. Our children become more aware of the environment, develop outdoor skills and an appreciation for nature. Konka will probably be the highlight of their primary school journey!
Our Grade 5's visited Croc City Crocodile & Reptile Park yesterday. School trips are invaluable life experiences and cannot be underestimated. They build social skills. Children get to interact with their classmates, teachers and excursion representatives. They learn how to socialise and behave out of the school environment. They provide exposure. Children get to visit places where they have never been before. The photos speak 1000 words. They just loved the experience. Thanks to all !
