Lulama Gcuku

On Wednesday, 24 February 2016, our Spelling Bee champion, Lulama Gcuku was given the special honour of being one of three programme directors for the 2016 Johannesburg South SASCE, SEGARONA and Spelling Bee Y&C District Awards which was held in Lenasia South.

The event focused on empowering learners to participate in cultural Extra Curricular Activities such as drama, dance, music, public speaking, spelling, poetry, comedy, reading and visual arts.

Lulama was asked to open the ceremony by leading the National Anthem. However, there was a technical error with the sound system. Lulama improvised and began singing in a beautiful voice while the crowd joined her.

Talented learners all over the country showcased their creative abilities leaving department officials, teachers and guests in awe.

There was a variety of youth entertainment from gumboot dances, mimes, sopranos, dramas, stand up comedy and spectacular choir performances.

The event was concluded by awarding learners who participated in the Segarona Competitions. Lulama scooped up another award for taking first position in the Provincial Spelling Bee which took place last year.

We are proud of Lulama for doing a fantastic job in representing CityKidz once again.
