Peter Pan pantomime

Peter Pan pantomime

Our inner-city school children had the opportunity to experience the magic of pantomime for the first time yesterday. The children, aged 3 to 7, were from a variety of backgrounds and had never seen a pantomime before.

The show, "Peter Pan," was a traditional pantomime with all the classic elements: comedy, music, dance, and audience participation. The children were wide-eyed with wonder as they watched the show. They laughed at the jokes, cheered for the heroes, and booed at the villains. They were also delighted to be able to participate in the show by singing.

One of the children, a 3-year-old girl , said that she had never seen anything like it before. "It was so much fun," she said. "I saw Peter Pan flying ." The children's reaction to the pantomime was overwhelmingly positive. They were all engaged in the show and had a lot of fun. Some were so excited they needed to take a short nap. Others, were too afraid to miss a thing and stayed awake the whole time. Pantomime is a wonderful way to introduce children to the theatre and to give them a taste of the magic of live performance. The experience is sure to stay with them for years to come.

A special thanks to Justine Lipson from the Joburg Theatre and Colette Steeneveldt from "Just Connect Empowerment Services NPC" for the complimentary tickets for the Grade RR and R's. It shows you that all need is faith, trust and a little pixie dust! Miracles do happen. Thanks to all the teachers and assistants for making this such a memorable time for our learners.
