CityKidz wins the District Spelling Bee

CityKidz took part in the District Spelling Bee Final on Thursday, 16 August. In the     Johannesburg South district there are 120 schools. 56 of those entered the competition, and the final consisted of the top 19 schools. CityKidz was represented by the team of Katlego Buthelezi and Siphamandla Ndlovu, who are both in Grade 6.

They had over 1000 words to learn and showed superb skill and character as they proceeded through the competition. They have been learning for months! After many gruelling rounds of spelling difficult words, Katlego placed 5th and Siphamandla placed 1st! Congratulations! The final results of the top three schools were:    CityKidz; Calvary Christian ,Zodiac Primary School

On Saturday, 1 September, Siphamandla will represent CityKidz and Johannesburg South at the Provincial Final. We will be behind him all the way! The winning word that he had to spell was “harrumphed”! It is the past tense of the verb “harrumph”, which means to clear the throat in a noisy and self-important manner! WOW!

The day before that, Friday 31st August, there is a different competition. This time the team consists of Katlego Buthelezi, Zibusiso Moyo, Bonga Sukumani, Siphe Nokwe and Siphamandla Ndlovu. We know and appreciate that all their friends, classmates, teachers and families will be encouraging them. We are so proud of all of you. CityKidz stars!!!!!  A special thanks to Ms Shelley Corrigan for her unwavering support and motivating our learners to achieve such outstanding results.
