Croc City Grade 5

A fun-filled day at Croc City was planned for our Grade 5 learners. It was surely a great day for both teachers and learners to face their reptilian fears!

Visiting a reptile park brings human beings closer to various animals that we are not exposed to daily. It makes us develop an interest in all sorts of scaley and non-scaley animals and creatures. Children get to learn so much about these animals too.

Our visit to Croc City allowed us to watch and learn about different types of crocodiles, alligators, and snakes. Each class got to watch interesting videos about fresh water and saltwater crocodiles and how they survive in their various habitats. Our learners were also given a tour of the park and got to see real life crocodiles and alligators. Thereafter, the students were taken on a "touch and feel" session where they got the opportunity to hold crocodile eggs, skins, skulls, and a real live baby crocodile. They were also able to hold two different types of snakes. By doing so, this increased their appreciation for nature.

But that wasn’t all! Croc City provided our learners were an unforgettable experience of getting to zipline over a bask of crocodiles. Each learner received an awesome certificate. Our learners were all so brave that day, from touching reptiles to ziplining over them. As educators, it was fulfilling to watch our children's faces light up as soon as they got encounter all the different reptiles. The fun nature of the talks engaged our kids, they were definitely able to learn through exploration. There’s no better way than for a child to learn using their eyes, ears and hands.

After all of that, Croc City provided our learners with a delicious lunch which they got to eat surrounded by huge tortoises and adorable little bunny rabbits. Thank you to our parents for always allowing and encouraging these learning experiences to happen. We appreciate the support. Keep shining like bright-bright stars! It was a fulfilling and educating day indeed, a perfect way to start Term 2.
