20 May 2022

The cluster Grade 6 TIMMS Olympiads were held on the 19th May 2022 at Townsview Primary School in Rosettenville. Our school sent a delegation of our top 3 NST learners to represent us after they had gone through internal eliminations. More than 10 schools with over 60 learners participated in this demanding and gruelling contest.

Out of our 3 delegates, namely, Keyshia Phiri , Oluhle Moyo and Luca King . Luca managed to go through for the second round as there was a tie of 6 learners with the same marks. It was from this tie breaker round that Luca made it through to the next stage. The next step for Luca, together with 4 learners from different schools, is to represent the school and the cluster/circuit in the District competition to be hosted by Highveld Primary, 25 July 2022.

We would sincerely like to take this opportunity to thank the parents of Keyshia, Oluhle and Luca for their continued support through this journey. Luca said it better when he said to his peers that it was indeed a team effort, without their motivation and support he would not have made it through to the next round. They spent time before the competition prepping and chatting about possible questions. The winners from the District competition will go through to the Gauteng Provincial level of the competition which will be the grand finals. Thanks to our Principal and Mr Richard Mathekga ( the team coach) for giving our team complete and unwavering support
