Grade 7 Leadership Day

20 March 2015

On Tuesday, in the picturesque environment of Magaliesburg, our Grade 7 learners participated in a variety of fun, meaningful leadership development activities. Everyone enjoyed the day thoroughly. Some learners displayed impressive leadership   potential. Ms Reynolds and Mrs Tilly observed them while they collaborated, planned and implemented strategies to overcome challenges and to solve problems. With the help of the expert team co-ordinators from Happy Acres, the Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl of CityKidz 2015 were identified. Their names were announced during a special assembly yesterday.

They are:

  • Head Boy - Michael Makwela
  • Head Girl - Sherifa Mogano
  • Deputy Head Boy - Mduduzi Tshabalala
  • Deputy Head Girl - Yvette Wanzai

We are very proud of our future leaders and wish them every success with their roles this year. We know that they will be excellent role models and will also be an inspiration to the learners under their care. Written by Mrs Tilly

Read the following articles about some of the learner’s experience.

At the leadership camp I learnt that being a leader is not all about yourself, it is also about others. When you are a leader you don’t have to overdose your power. A leader is someone who works as a group. To be a good leader you have to help people, respect older people, be kind to others, be honest to young and older people. This means that when you respect others, be honest to others, be kind to others and help others. Thank you very much Ms Reynolds and Mrs Tilly.

Yesterday my friends and I went to Magaliesburg for a leadership camp. We went there to release our inner potential and how we can cooperate with younger children than us and how to become good role models. It was a very great experience. I was also amazed to see how our group was thoughtful and listened. I really felt I was on top of the world.

When I went on the trip I was so happy but not knowing what challenges I was going to face. I felt so happy with each and every activity we went to, it taught me a lot about  being kind, good, honest, enthusiastic and a respectful leader. The thing that I hated is that I did not go for a quick swim, but I really enjoyed myself. I say thank you to Mrs Tilly and Ms Reynolds and the people who organized it. We were so happy it put smiles on our faces.

Hi my name is Mduduzi, yesterday we Grade 7’s went for a leadership camp at Magaliesburg, Happy Acres. We had fun. I learnt about being a good leader and a bad leader. The challenges were a little bit hard, but as a group we succeeded. It was a little scary but we were brave and strong. My group members were:Lebohang, Donavan, Kgotso, Zeidene, Beverly, Michelle, Nonsi and Vanessa. Our group did well in the obstacles.

The people that were coaching us were Bra Joe and Uncle Gerald. Some things they said I never understood but they explained everything again and that is when I understood them. In the future we should always plan before action then give it everything you’ve got. I’d like to thank Ms Reynolds and Mrs Tilly for organizing this wonderful trip. I’d also like to thank the bus driver for taking us and   bringing us safely, most of all I’d like to thank Happy Acres for teaching us how to be a good leader.
