Have your say, cast your vote

02 August 2016

On Tuesday the Grade 2’s were given the opportunity to take part in a mini-mock election. This was designed to raise awareness about our electoral processes and increase their personal understanding of how the voting process takes place.

They voted for real candidates—their favourite Grade 2 teacher. ( A very difficult task indeed !)

The children went to the voting station in the hall, presented valid identification, checked to see if his/her name appeared on the voters’ roll , had his/her finger tips marked, received a ballot paper and moved on to the empty voting booth to cast his/her vote. Officials were on hand to ensure that voting was free and fair before the ballot paper was placed in the ballot box.

The counting of votes took place under the watchful eye of officials. The results were declared.
