Intersen & senior phase Prize Giving

We were able to celebrate all our highest achievers from Grades 2 to 7. It was a spectacular day with great weather and smiles all around. The learners and teachers have been preparing for this day for weeks, and finally the plane was ready for take-off.

Our first stop was the Grade 2 and 3 prizegiving which had very little turbulence. The learners were beaming with pride while standing with their certificates on stage as their supporters cheered from all corners of the hall. This moment was so special to witness as all the young learners had grown and developed so much during this year. One of the highlights was the Merit Award received by Carey Muza in Grade 3D for his interpersonal abilities, a skill that is often overlooked. We want to wish our Grade 2s good luck for their last year in the Foundation Phase next year, and also send our Grade 3s off with the best wishes as they enter a new phase of the school; the “big and scary” Intermediate Phase.

Our second stop was the Grades 4 to 7 prizegiving, and the hall was definitely not large enough to accommodate all of the proud parents, friends and family members who wanted to cheer on their achievers. The cheers, whistles and vuvuzelas echoed throughout the school. Everyone was so delighted. These learners were able to proudly stand on stage and be recognised for all of their fabulous achievements. Pamela Chitungo in Grade 7 stole the show as she scooped 9 Platinum Awards (Platinum being the highest) and 3 special awards. It was most inspiring! Not forgetting Ntando Nxulwane, our Head Boy who received the first ever Wally Freeman Award. This special award is for a learner who, like Mr Freeman, has been friendly, supportive, kind and calm.

We want to wish all learners luck in their new Grades and schools next year. We hope you will continue to shine like bright, bright stars! One thing that is important to mention is that this event really made us realise how much we all enjoy coming together to celebrate these children, which unfortunately hasn’t happened the last two years due to Covid. We are always grateful to our parents for making this such an exciting and memorable event, of course, we wouldn’t be able to do it without you! The flight was long, busy, exciting and action packed but we were able to reach our destination and land safely. We hope you enjoyed your flight with us… CityKidz Air, the best host for your journey! Have a lovely festive season and enjoy your holidays.
