Leadership camp at Konka Family Adventure Resort

Our Grade 7 learners had the opportunity to attend a leadership camp at Konka Family Adventure Resort. Konka is a 2 hour bus trip from Johannesburg and is situated in a picturesque natural setting surrounded by bush and mountains. It is the perfect place for this exciting event which is a highlight on the Grade 7 calendar.

Our learners got to enjoy breathtaking views as they watched the city blur into the background as they were welcomed into Rustenberg. The learners got to enjoy basking in the warm sun whilst getting to know their peers better. All camp activities are designed to challenge our learners both mentally and physically, while also promoting teamwork and leadership. The programme included wall climbing, zip lining, hiking, and canoeing. Each activity was led by experienced instructors who provided guidance and support to ensure the safety of all our learners at all times.

One of the most memorable activities was the mudstacle course. Our Grade 7s had to navigate their way through a series of obstacles, including tunnels and log structures, they also had to leopard crawl through muddy water! This activity required them to work together as a team, communicate effectively, and support each other through the challenges. Our learners stepped out of their comfort zones and allowed themselves to be fully immersed into this once of a lifetime opportunity.

Our learners returned home tired but with a newfound sense of confidence and a greater understanding of what it means to be a leader. Konka is an experience that our learners will never forget. It allowed them to develop their leadership skills while enjoying the great outdoors and bonding with their peers. Konka will definitely have a lasting impact on their lives and help them as they navigate the challenges of growing up and becoming successful adults.
