In a world characterised by technological advancements and rapid communication, the significance of language skills cannot be overstated. A solid foundation in spelling not only enhances vocabulary and communication abilities, it also instils confidence and fosters a lifelong love for language.
The Annual CityKidz Spelling Bee is an exciting initiative designed to cultivate a passion for language and challenge our learners to demonstrate their spelling prowess. This competition serves as an excellent platform for our students to delve into the nuances of words and expand their vocabulary. In the weeks preceding the day, excitement and anticipation becomes tangible with speculation running riot as to which Grade will produce the winner.
This year’s Spelling Bee began with a special guest star from Grade 1: Limile Ndela. We were astounded. From “assassin” to “eczema” and “neuroscience” he could spell them all. He truly proved himself as a spelling champion. To help settle their nerves and prepare for the competition, our learners were allowed a practice round. Then the competition began. Round followed round and the challenge intensified. Words became increasingly complex, testing our learners’ knowledge, memory, and composure. The atmosphere was tense, the competition fierce, yet friendly.
We are proud of all our contestants and congratulate our winners. Their achievements have truly impressed us.
